Our Story
Co-Founders and Managing Partners Nana Adu Ampofo and Kissy Agyeman-Togobo established Songhai Advisory in 2010, drawing on backgrounds in governance risk & compliance, political science, development economics and law. The name is drawn from the 15th and 16th century Songhai empire covering swathes of West Africa. It speaks to the team’s origins, focus and ambition.
Kissy and Nana have more than 25 years' experience advising clients on business risk. For example, working with leading providers of intelligence, analysis and consultancy on the region such as IHS Global Insight, Exclusive Analysis, The Risk Advisory Group and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) even before Songhai Advisory.
Moreover, strategic advisors Peter Gbedemah, Joshua Mortoti and Michael Applegate have amassed more than thirty years each at the forefront of seminal telecommunications, energy and extractive resources transactions in the region.
Today, Songhai Advisory managing partners, in-country analysts, consultants and investigators serve investment firms, professional services and business intelligence companies, banks, industry and international civil society.
