Vice President Yemi Osinbajo led a federal delegation to three states in the Niger Delta on 16 January to meet stakeholders on the militancy in the region.
Execution of the government’s 2017 financial plan depends on the anticipated increasing in oil production from 1.7 million bpd to 2.2 million bpd. It is therefore expected to sustain efforts to quell unrest in the oil hub to pave way for increased output. Those efforts allay crisis but intermittent attacks on oil facilities remain a likelihood because of the fragile nation of relations between the executive and local interest groups and their leadership.
